But this is indeed blog worthy.
A friend of mine and his daughter were extras in this, which is how I heard about it. And I am really, really glad I did. Ink is AWESOME.
I knew nothing about it except my friend and his daughter had been in it, and the people who made it were nice to her and sent her a copy of the DVD. Just by chance, I thought to look on Netflix and they have it for instant viewing right now. It's an independent film shot here in Colorado (Yaay Colorado!)
So, instead of studying Chinese, cleaning my house, or going to bed (tomorrow is a work day) I've been watching "Ink". I could not stop watching.
This is the official website - http://www.doubleedgefilms.com/
Here's the preview, though I kind of liked going into it knowing nothing at all about it. It was a great adventure.
If you've got Netflix, add it to your instant queue and check it out. I'll be seeing it again, because I want to show it to my sweetie.
It made me cry. It's absolutely beautiful. And the soundtrack is amazing too. Awesome work, and I hope that Hollywood takes notice of this independent film and it gets the attention it deserves.
Check it out. I'll be curious to hear what you think. Hope you like it too.
Now, I must sleep. Night night.
So I've decided I'm getting out of SD sized dolls completely and letting go of most of the MSD dolls too. I'm really trying to thin the herd and to just focus on the tinies. This means I have a lot of dolly stuff and MSD/SD dolls that need new homes. Here's the list of dolls. Make me an offer! They're going CHEAP!
Please email me for details (even though I'm still moving stuff around, I promise to check my email.) :)
I'll bring some bags of clothes and stuff to the Tiny Town meetup tomorrow. Again, CHEAP! It's nice stuff, I just don't need it anymore. :)
SD Dolls
Elfdoll Ryung
Dream of Doll Shall
MDS Dolls
Souldoll Soulkid Harang
Dollzone Mo
I don't have their original boxes, paperwork or nuthin. For the most part, they'll come with the clothes they're pictured in. Email me for details and I can tell you exactly what's included.
I'll try to get pictures of the dolls I don't have pictures of (poor neglected things. That's why they're leaving!) if anyone is interested.
Some of the tinies will be moving out too, so I'll list those here once I have that a little more organized.
Thanks for looking.

And I am now reminded that I need to pick up a copy of the Chinese Tarot. Chinese classes start September 22nd and I am so excited. So some Chinese folklore could only be a good thing.
Even if I am the devil. :)

You are The Devil
Materiality. Material Force. Material temptation; sometimes obsession
The Devil is often a great card for business success; hard work and ambition.
Perhaps the most misunderstood of all the major arcana, the Devil is not really "Satan" at all, but Pan the half-goat nature god and/or Dionysius. These are gods of pleasure and abandon, of wild behavior and unbridled desires. This is a card about ambitions; it is also synonymous with temptation and addiction. On the flip side, however, the card can be a warning to someone who is too restrained, someone who never allows themselves to get passionate or messy or wild - or ambitious. This, too, is a form of enslavement. As a person, the Devil can stand for a man of money or erotic power, aggressive, controlling, or just persuasive. This is not to say a bad man, but certainly a powerful man who is hard to resist. The important thing is to remember that any chain is freely worn. In most cases, you are enslaved only because you allow it.
What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.
But this certainly did both.
I wish I knew who to credit for it, but so far all I'm finding is "RandomFerret". Enjoy. -

RandomFerret: Religion
No, Moslems don't believe that Jesus was the messiah.
Think of it like a movie. The Torah is the first one, and the New Testament is the sequel. Then the Qu’ran comes out, and it retcons the last one like it never happened. There’s still Jesus, but he’s not the main character anymore, and the messiah hasn’t shown up yet.
Jews like the first movie but ignored the sequels, Christians think you need to watch the first two, but the third movie doesn’t count, Moslems think the third one was the best, and Mormons like the second one so much they started writing fanfiction that doesn’t fit with ANY of the series canon.

I've had bad experiences with this guy too, and I'm really sad I didn't think to warn my friends way back when it happened. But I'm warning you all now!

Please feel free to copy and paste this.... its already been on bad dolly deals
I made a trade via the junkyspot chatroom back at the beginning of this year with Josh, aka joshdoll or tonnerlover@aol.com.. the trade was an iplehouse lion bjd for an alice cherry blossom bjd, a hujoo wing and $150us... he threw in an ashton drake ashleigh baby doll as a gift, cos he doesn't like baby dolls
Well, my alice arrived damaged... turns out she was not insured, although he claimed she was. the first half of the payment (via money order, cos he doesn't have paypal) was also damaged and had to be sent back to him.....
Stupid me sent off my lion BEFORE the money order was replaced, or the insurance schmozzle got sorted out.. he had traded with friends of mine before and everything had been fine.
Since he received my dolls I have had almost no communication.. he emailed me once to say it was going to take a while to get a replacement money order.. now he won't even reply to my emails. Its been three months. the above names are both usernames on different forums for the same person.
I am out over five hundred dollars worth of bjds and I have a cute plastic doll in return.. the ashleigh was NOT in good condition, and is worth nothing.. .the broken alice, I sold off for much less than half she was worth, due to the damage and the heartache, as I just couldn't bear to look at her any more.
Josh collects BJD's and tonner dolls, claiming to have over 200 of each... I highly recommend you tell him to keep them if you are approached. I know he is trying to offload a sharmin bjd last time anyone heard from him. The lion was put up for trade on Zone of Zen.. although I have emailed him several times asking for its return. After I notified the moderators there, he was banned from that forum as well.
My lion was taken to gogadoll, where he tried to sell them.. now my lion is on ebay from a different seller..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... Track=true
I can only assume that this person bought the doll in good faith, but I KNOW its my lion, the outfit, eyes and shoes are all the same (I have dated photo evidence) and he has a OOAK faceup by an australian artist that is VERY distinctive..
I wont get him back now, but I hope he goes to a home that loves him *cries*
******************
This guy doesn't have Paypal because he's been banned from Ebay (that's what he told me). He likes to trade and he seems like a really nice guy when you're first talking to him. Don't be fooled. Let other people know, so this doesn't happen to someone else.
All the best,
Wendy

Well, he wasn't THAT bothered by my picture taking, I don't think. As I was wading through the high grasses to get closer for the pictures, I swear he had this look like "What on EARTH are you doing?" So beautiful.

These were all shot in the huge greenbelt behind my house. There are a bunch of owls living back there, but this is the only one I've managed to get any pictures of. I'm going to keep trying, though.
( More owl harassment under the cut... )
You've been called out as a liar (having gone from "What? I have never seen pictures of dolls like I drew! Where are these photos?" to "Yes, I used photos for reference but I asked permission" to "This is all because I refused to draw someone's doll for them and they are starting rumors about me."), you've been shown to have traced the primary elements in your art (the faces and as the saga goes on, other things as well turns out).
And your response to all this? Posting pictures of "works in progress" on your Facebook. Just business as usual. Nothing to see here.
Except....

(Overlay and more information found here - Radiotrash Mijn Schatje site)
Oh Mijn, maybe the best way to respond to accusations of tracing and stealing was not to post yet another tracing you've done.
You poor dumb bunny.
It's hard enough to get into a gallery. There are legitimate artists who would give their eyeteeth to have what you've had: a deal with a major clothing line, International gallery showings, $1000 for a print of your "art", and now it's all falling apart because you are a thief and a liar.
It's very nice that you're taking down the pictures of Blastmilk's doll (which is a complete admission of guilt, but still, quite nice.) However, will you be giving her any of the money you made with photos of her dolls that you stole and traced? A share of the deal you made with Sony? (Blastmilk's Response) That really seems only fair. Now doesn't it?
- Wendy
Minj Schatje - The Evidence
It features not only pictures of her "art" with the overlays of the pictures she traced, but also the emails sent to the companies and private owners that she swiped the pictures from, and their emails back indicating that, no, in fact they did NOT give her any kind of permission.
Luts in particular sounds pretty cheesed off.
If you're a fan who can't figure out why we're all such "haters" I would put to you that we are not and it isn't a personal attack on Minj, it is her actions we take such offense to. Where you love her artwork, we love our dolls, and she has come into our community and stolen from us. A huge part of this hobby (the BJDs) is photography of the dolls, and to have someone come in and take pictures from the companies we love as well as private owners, and then claim they are art of their own isn't just a matter of money, it's personal to us, and hurtful. For the price Minj is pulling down for one print, she could easily buy a doll of her own, take her own pictures and make them into her "art". That wouldn't be such a problem. Stealing photos is.
And it's sad to me that for the price her fans are paying for one $1,000 print, you could just buy a doll yourself, and experience what it's like to have actual art living in your house with you, not just a trace picture of it.
That webpage also features Minj's replies to these accusations, which are pretty weak, frankly. I cannot imagine how this woman has slept at night, and I can't imagine she got much sleep last night at all. And while I think it's sad that her world must be crumbling around her right now, I think she brought this upon herself. How do you copy on this kind of scale and think you won't get caught? Did you really think no one would notice? Or did you just think no one would care?
Either way, you were wrong on both accounts, Minj. And I hope you find no rest sleeping in the bed you made.

(Griffonfeathers on DoD)
I don't know a lot about art. But I remember learning in elementary school that tracing something did NOT make an original piece of art that you could sell as your own. Pretty simple lesson. Well, apparently unless you're Mijn Schatje.

At first glance, her artwork is a) pretty and b) strangely familiar. Looking at any of her pictures I found myself thinking they were BJDs, but it never occurred to me she was just swiping pictures from the company sites (and sometimes private owners), and essentially tracing them. Can't belive an "artist" would do such a thing? Check this out:
The Evidence (The finished piece is what Ms. Schatje has been passing off as entirely her own. The source photos were tracked down and the overlays done by the members of Den of Demons to illustrate the "tracing").
I cannot imagine how angry I would be if I were any of the companies she swiped those images from. Or the private owners. But I think we're about to find out. The folks on Den of Demons have emailed the galleries showing her stuff, the magazines writing articles about her "art", and the owners of those images.
And THAT is why I love Den of Demons.
She got called out on an art site, and this was her reply -

(original link by Radiotrash - http://radiotrash.org/temp/t/liar.jpg)
Oh really, Ms. Schatje? So, if you've never seen the photos that must mean you don't have permission for them.
I hope Volks sues the holy living crap out of her. Though, she does have good taste in dolls. I particularly like this one - Rather Ripped off Narae. Though I have to say I like the original picture better than her "artwork".
And hopefully, somewhere out there, another elementary school class is learning that tracing is not art.
Den of Demons, you are all awesome for the incredible amount of work and team effort that went into this.
Go, Go Den of Demon Detectives!
The irony of this piece kills me, because, actually, Mijn, it turns out we do know your secret.

(Here's another awesome Livejournaler [with an amazingly gorgeous doll] and HER LJ entry about this thievery. This is What We Call Art? Like she says, the only way to deal with this is to spread the word.)
You have fallen down the rabbit hole and nothing is the same as it was. The most stable things you once took for granted are now as pliable as silly putty. Your fantasies may seem so real that you could be a bit lost in the outer world. But not to worry; today marks a turning point in your battle to regain control of your life. Fix the problems within your imagination first. When your thoughts are in order, the rest will follow soon enough. And it's dead on.
I'm not normally a huge "oh, pop horoscope tell me how to live my day!" type, but holy cats. Sometimes, they're a little too accurate.
Wow.
Well, at least it sounds like a good thing. :)
Oh, and there's a ginormous stuffed horse on his way to my house.

I spend much too much time at Denver Doll Emporium and am seriously considering just putting a cot in the back. I'm there a lot. Like 6 days a week a lot. They sent me home early from work today because I have the plague (okay, so it's just a bad head cold, but the way they were all avoiding me you'd THINK it was the plague. *sniffle*) But they sent me home with dolls to photograph.
So, between naps and laying in bed watching Death Note (which is AWESOME. Thank you, Summer!!!!!) I photographed these little Elfdoll Flower Fairies.
They're wonderful. And I'm way more enchanted with the little seedlings than I thought I would be.
Anyway, if you want to see the whole photoshoot, you can. It's here - Flower Fairies Album on Flickr.
And under the cut, are some of my favorite photos of them. They were a lot of fun to photograph. And hopefully, tomorrow morning I'll be feeling well enough to take them outside before work and get some more pictures.
I am one lucky puppy. :)
( More Fairy Goodness.... )
So thanks for looking at my LiveJournal. I promise to try to update more.

Maybe (probably) more posting now that I have good internet access again. Yaay!!!
I gotta go pick up the soundtrack tomorrow, and then I'm dragging the Kirkachu to see the movie (I've already made him read the books. Poor fella.) which will be my second viewing. Saw it Sunday with a coworker. Loved it. A lot. Looking forward to loving it again. :)
So... which character are YOU?
Rook has new wings.
Well, they weren't SUPPOSED to be new wings for Rook. But he immediately swiped them and I think they suit him. These are another pair of gorgeous, handmade wings by the amazing Syrinxfox. THANK YOU FOR THE GORGEOUS WINGS, SYRINXFOX!!!!
His old wings are also Syrinxfox wings, and as for what happened to them... well, you'll just have to wait and see who got those. More of a nightbird, that one. :)
So here's a picture of my beautiful bird boy, taken this afternoon about 2 minutes after I got the new wings out of the box. :)

I haven't played with the dolls in a while, and I found myself forgetting why this was ever fun. So, in the spirit of taking pictures of something/someone that is NOT for sale, I ended up playing with Lenore this afternoon and a rather unexpected visitor who followed me home from work..
It didn't turn out to be really appropriate for Miranda Wandering, so here it is. Lenore Meets a Visitor from Ginger Brook Hollow. (Under the cut, 'cause that's just polite.)

And THAT is why Lenore is grounded until her birthday, which is October 8th. Sneaky girl.
It felt so good to be back to playing. And I'm really impressed with the little Ginger Brook Hollow girl. She's not bright, but she is really very sweet and poseable. And her clothes are NIFTY. Lenore apparently swiped almost all of them. I did get her to agree to give this dress back to her, though I think she only agreed to it because she doesn't really care for it.
Thanks for reading my dolly playing. :) It's so good to be back.

But I'm moving to a much smaller place so a lot, and I mean a LOT of the dolls are going to have to go.
To that end, I have started listing them on Ebay.
Check them out -

Ratti... if you want Sheldon back, let me know. He's not on Ebay yet, but he will be leaving. Did you want him to come back to live in Australia with you? Let me know! Email, not PM here, please - Wendy@wendywylde.com
On one hand, selling off all these dolls sucks pretty hard. But on the other hand... I dunno, it feels kind of freeing in a weird way.
I always envied those people who just had one or two incredibly spoiled dolls, and now I think I know which ones those will be for me. So hopefully, the rest will find their ways to places where THEY can be incredibly spoiled. :)
Thanks for looking.

All of my dolls have been gently played with, but are in excellent condition. If they're not, I'll note it.
If you're interested in any of the dolls, please don't hesitate to email me (wendy@wendywylde.com).
This morning, I would like to offer -
(EDIT: 6/30/08) Everyone I listed here is gone!!! Wow! Thank you, everyone!!!!
There will be more, but I think each time I list more I'll just give them their own entry.
If there's someone in my collection you've been lusting after, a LOT of them are going to be leaving, and if you'd rather just ask instead of waiting, take a gander at who lives here here - Dolls of the Treehouse and send me an email to ask about whoever you'd like to adopt.
They might not all be for sale, but it can't hurt to ask, right? :)
Thanks for looking.

There is an eight page article about the Treehouse and the dolls who live here.
Un - freakin - believable.
I almost cried in DDE when I saw it. My beautiful assistant, Emi (once called an "ugly ass obitsu" by some uppity snot on DoA) has a full page picture of just her!!!
I don't even know what to say. I never thought it would happen. The nice lady who wrote the article about me really did an amazing job (she wrote it as one of my dolls interviewing me). She picked out great photos from all the ones I've taken of my dolls, and they look TERRIFIC!
I'm just blown away. Totally blown away.
My dollies are in Haute Doll. Holy cats.

No really, I do love Bambicrony dolls.
But I totally don't get their animals.
I finally saw them. Their 2nd anniversary event critters or something. And this one caught my eye -

Because, upon seeing it, all I could think of was this -

And I refuse to have Rabbids in my house.
Besides, where would I find a plunger gun in the right scale?
